ECZEMA: Hell No

Image
This is not eczema, this is tinea vesicolor aka pityriasis vesicolor. What Is Tinea Vesicolor: Tinea versicolor, also known as pityriasis versicolor, is a common fungal infection of the skin. It is caused by an overgrowth of the fungus Malassezia, which is naturally present on the skin. The condition is characterized by patches or spots of discolored skin that can be lighter or darker than the surrounding skin. The name "Tinea Versicolor" is somewhat misleading, as it is not caused by a type of ringworm fungus (which is commonly referred to as "tinea"). Instead, it is caused by an overgrowth of the yeast-like fungus Malassezia, which is normally found on the skin in small numbers. Various factors can contribute to the overgrowth of this fungus, including hot and humid weather, excessive sweating, oily skin, hormonal changes, weakened immune system, and certain medications. The main symptom of tinea versicolor is the appearance of small, scaly patches or spots on t...

BENEFITS OF CASTOR OIL: For Skin and Health

Image
Castor oil is a vegetable oil derived from the seeds of the castor bean plant, scientifically known as Ricinus communis. It is a pale yellow liquid with a distinct taste and odor. Castor oil has been used for various purposes for centuries, ranging from medicinal to industrial applications. It is extremely high in ricinoleic acid, which is thought to be responsible for its health-promoting abilities. In fact, it was once called Palma christe because its leaves resembled the hands of Christ. It is important to note that while castor oil is said to have health benefits, the castor seed itself can be deadly. Internal use of castor oil can be safe, but warrants caution.     The best and most efficient way of using castor oil is to make castor oil packs. What It Is: The idea is to keep castor oil on a piece of cloth on the skin for at least an hour with a heat source to stimulate lymph and liver function. Unlike some “detox” methods, this is not said to have any negative sid...

Quit Trying to Be Perfect: You Already Are

Image
" Perfectionism doesn’t make you feel perfect. It makes you feel inadequate".    Like many of us, I spent a big part of growing up feeling like I wasn’t enough. Way back in my first year in secondary school, I was quite a studious kid, and this coupled with being terrible at few things especially sports, and also i was skinny and small meant i was a bit of a target. Indeed, when your first name sounds girlish, it’s pretty easy for bullies with even limited wordsmith skills to come up with insults. And it’s easy to say what words can’t hurt and that it says more about them than it did me. Yet, what it did mean for a long time was that I felt a lack of acceptance from my peers. And this does hurt. I don’t for a second think I’m alone with this either. No matter who you are there’s times growing up when you want nothing more than acceptance . Because here’s the thing: This need for acceptance, it’s a natural human tendency. As we grow we try to fit into the world as best w...

Students, studying, and self-belief: don’t be your worst critic

When it comes to education, every decision feels like the most important one. Whilst an exciting time to explore your passions, it can also be a daunting one. In this blog, I will be  shareing how student life influences mental health and discusses how you are never alone in wondering about whether your choices were the ‘right’ ones.    Everyone is normally their worst critic; I was mine. Being a student is all about learning, but not just in the classroom. Though tricky to navigate at times, it's a perfect opportunity to learn about yourself and life beyond the curriculum of your course.     Think of student life as a step ladder, starting at the bottom, undoubtedly small wobbles/big fall off in between, and eventually reaching the top as a qualified person of some sort. Without a stable base, you’re bound to fall. It might feel like you're back to square one, starting at the bottom but - remember - you're already climbing, and you aren’t alone on y...

STD vs UTI: How To Tell One From The Other.

If you're confused about your symptoms and whether they might be indicative of a UTI or STD, this breakdown can help. When it comes to your sex life, there are a lot of acronyms out there — the fun ones, such as DTF or DTR are just as confusing to keep up with as the more serious likes of UTI, STI, and STD. While no one really likes to talk about the latter three, it's sexually and medically important (and responsible!) to know the differences between them, so you can recognize the symptoms and seek proper treatment if and when you need it. Here's the difference between UTIs and STIs, how to tell if it's a UTI vs STD/STI depending on your symptoms, and what to do about it. What Is a UTI?   A UTI, or urinary tract infection, is an infection that affects any part of the urinary system, which includes the kidneys, bladder, ureters, and urethra.   Squats are a popular exercise that primarily target the muscles in the lower body, including the quadriceps, hamstrings, glutes, and calves. They are considered a compound exercise, meaning they involve multiple joints and muscle groups working together. The  Squat is one of the most ubiquitous moves in fitness. Even if you have just a passing interest in exercise, you’ve likely encountered it at some point in your life. PINEAPPLE: Does Eating Pineapple Actually Make The Woman Vagina Smells and Taste Better..?

Image
There is no scientific evidence to suggest that pineapples have any direct effect on the vagina of women. Pineapples are a fruit rich in vitamins, minerals, and enzymes, particularly bromelain, which is known for its anti-inflammatory properties. While bromelain has been studied for various potential health benefits, there is no specific research indicating it has any targeted effects on the vagina.    Considering how asparagus can infuse your pee with a new level of pungency or how red meat can make your sweat smell, well, meaty, it's only natural to wonder if the fluids that secrete from your nether regions are also affected by what you eat—both from a smell and taste point of view. And that question of taste can become all the more relevant during oral sex. In fact, a desire to improve upon or optimize taste has spawned a host of urban legends about foods and drinks with vagina-altering powers. But, to me, the rumor about pineapple, specifically, is perh...
